Delhi: In Mayur Vihar, an eastern area of Delhi, two bike-riding boys allegedly put a burning firecracker in the pocket of a 9-year-old child (Delhi Lit-up cracker pocket). Due to this, the child has been seriously injured. It was told that the bike riders fled just before the firecracker exploded. According to the report, both were wearing masks and first they had a normal conversation with the child. Then they put the firecracker in his pocket. At the same time, the child’s thigh and some other parts of the body have been burnt. He has been admitted to the hospital.
The incident took place in Mayur Vihar Phase-1. Police said that on the night of October 11, around 8.30 pm, the child was strolling outside a cyber cafe run by his family. Then two bike-borne youths committed the crime. According to the Indian Express, the child was immediately taken to Safdarjung Hospital as his injuries were serious. A police officer said that he is out of danger now, but is still admitted in the hospital.
According to a Times of India report, the accused were wearing masks. While the child was walking, both of them went to the boy on a motorcycle and talked to him. First they put 50 rupees and a lemon in the boy’s pocket. Before the boy could understand anything, both of them lit firecrackers and put them in the child’s pocket. Then both of them fled. In a few seconds, the firecrackers exploded, causing this incident.
According to the report, the police have registered a case under several sections including section 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 288 (negligence with respect to explosive substance) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). Police said that just before the explosion, both the bike riders fled. Probably both the youths are residents of the same area. Police officials say that the police have started identifying these people. With the help of CCTV, both the accused will be caught soon. Police is investigating CCTV footage and every angle to identify the motorcycle riders and their vehicle.
